“The delight of the arrival of a progressive and forward thinking new Lodge of like-minded Freemasons is a joy to behold. I am so pleased to have witnessed the consultative approach in the planning of the Lodge with all the Founders involved in establishing the culture and operation of Garforth Lodge. A Lodge fit for the 21st Century and beyond! The views of all Founders have clearly been considered carefully and this will ensure the most solid foundation for the future happiness and prosperity of the Lodge in a growing part of our Province.
My personal thanks and congratulations to your Primus Master and to all the hard-working Team who have brought this new Lodge into being from concept to reality. I also note with pleasure the excellent relationship established with Garforth Golf Club and this is so very important. I wish you well and every success. Floreat Garforthians!”
Provincial Grand Master
I dreamed a dream
It all started with a question – Why haven’t we got a lodge in Garforth?
Well that remark fuelled three brethren in the foundation of this lodge. It was decided to ask other local brethren and from that we formed a group of seven.
We asked permission from the Provincial Grand Master and the Directors of Garforth Golf Club if we would be allowed to form a new lodge within the Golf Club.
After a series of meetings and inspection of the premises by the Province we were given permission to apply to Grand Lodge to form this new lodge and at this point the magnificent seven elected a Founding Chairman, Secretary and a Treasurer.
A letter was sent via Provincial Office to all lodges in the Province and from this initial enquiry 47 Founders came forward and were interested in forming the new lodge and after several meetings we are here today.
Great emphasis has been made about teamwork and I hope this will apply from generation to generation throughout this lodge.
I am most grateful to the Foundation Committee for giving many hours of their time in planning and preparing this new adventure for all.
I hope that in future years that Great Oak Trees will grow from these small Acorns.
